The FIBRAN library and the BIMTech Tools plugin

There is nothing wrong with change and in the construction business, we are already used to it. As success and progress are always driven by change, we are welcoming the latest news in construction: BIM – Building Information Modeling.

BIM TOOLS ARE SLOWLY BUT SURELY BECOMING COMPULSORY IN PUBLIC PROCUREMENTS

In its 22nd article, the Directive 2014/24 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council states that: “For public works contracts and design contests, Member States may require the use of specific electronic tools, such as of building information electronic modelling tools or similar.” Even though in Slovenia, the use of BIM tools has not yet been directly enforced with the Public Procurement Act, this is only a question of time, as in the Netherlands, in France and in Australia, the use of BIM in public procurement projects is already a must be, thus dictating the trend for Europe and the world.

As we support excellence in design and encourage the use of advanced BIM solutions, we have prepared a Slovene template that new ArchiCAD users will find useful and time-saving. Also, we incorporated our solutions into BIMTech Tools, a plugin which is also available in other BIM tools, such as Revit and Allplan.

THE CONSTRUCTION ASSEMBLIES LIBRARY

Our library offers a comprehensive set of construction assemblies:

• floor in contact with the ground (TL),
• interior walls (NZ),
• exterior walls (ZS),
• intermediate floor structures (MK),
• flat and sloped roofs (ST)
• basement walls (KZ).

To suit different applications and offer detailed solutions for various design projects, the set offers numerous well-thought out construction assemblies. In addition to generic materials, FIBRAN’s library also contains FIBRANxps, FIBRANskin, FIBRANfilter, FIBRANgeo and FIBRANhydro with their respective characteristics (thermal conductivity, density and specific heat).

The BIMTech Tools Plugin

BIMTech Tools is also available for other BIM tools. In this plugin, the desired construction assembly is selected and imported into a design project. Similarly, individual materials, color charts, cadastral maps, objects and CAD details can be imported.

FIBRAN invites all – new and advanced – BIM users to test our predefined solutions. We are looking forward to your feedback aiming to collaborate with our technical solutions already in the early design phases.

With this in mind, we have prepared two different manuals for the use of FIBRAN ArchiCAD and BIMTech Tools templates. The first one is suitable for beginners, while the other will better serve the more advanced BIM users.
